Why an English score should become useful evidence
A score is only the beginning. Better learning systems show what a learner can do, where that evidence came from, and what to practice next.
English learning becomes more meaningful when a result tells a learner something useful. A quiz score can be encouraging, but it is far more powerful when it is connected to the skill being practised, the language target involved, and the course outcome it supports.
From score to evidence
Outcome-based assessment does not ask only, “How many answers were correct?” It asks, “What ability does this answer demonstrate?” A learner who repeatedly succeeds with a target phrase, listening detail, or pronunciation goal builds a trail of evidence that can guide future practice.
Why coverage matters
One excellent answer should not claim mastery of a broad ability. That is why attainment and coverage belong together. Attainment shows how well someone performed on what they attempted. Coverage shows how much of the available evidence they have actually encountered.
The result is more humane as well as more accurate: a learner is not labelled by one moment. They are given a clearer picture of what is growing and what deserves another chance.
